The Lady Anne & Mariska in Portofino
We first attended the Voiles de Saint Tropez in 1990 & 1991 on our classic schooner Orianda, which we had brought over from the British Virgin Islands for a season in the Med, with the intention of selling her here. In those days it was known as the Nioulargue, & twenty years later it has become a huge spectacle & end of season extravaganza.
Many of the yachts that take part today are the same yachts that were competing in 1990, but under different ownership.
Though we have not competed on Tara since we have owned her, we have often been out on the water when the boats are racing which has enabled me to get some wonderful photographs, particularly of the beautiful & elegant 15 metre class yachts, Tuiga D3, Mariska D1, The Lady Anne D10 & Hispania D5.
We have also been lucky enough, 20 years on, to have been invited on several occasions, to join the crew on our old schooner Orianda, who holds a very special place in our hearts, but that is an entirely different story which I will talk about at a later date,
She is currently in Italian ownership, & on several occasions over the years, Peter was invited by the then skipper, to take the Helm. He said that even after all these years she still felt very familiar.
Below are some of the photographs that I have taken over the past few years.
